One list, sorted by our overall score out of 10. Scores weigh daily reliability, the app, running costs and how the animals took to the device; the review explains each one.
The Halo Collar 5 costs $599 plus a Pack Membership, and it promises to fence a large yard with nothing but satellites and sound cues. We weighed the claims against independent tests.
The Alpha T 20 costs $299.99 but needs a $800-odd Garmin handheld to work. We compare its 9 mile radio link and 68 hour battery with the cellular trackers.
The Tractive DOG 6 starts at $69 but needs a subscription to work at all. We add up the plans, the battery claims and the independent accuracy tests to see if it is still the best value.
Fi claims up to three months per charge, which no clip-on tracker can touch. The catch is a mandatory membership, a collar you cannot swap for your own, and tracking that is less snappy than Tractive's.
Tractive's CAT 6 Mini is a 32 g collar-integrated GPS tracker with a breakaway clasp. It suits outdoor cats of 3 kg and up, but the battery asks for a charging habit and the plan is the real bill.
SpotOn's $899 Omni keeps containment free of any subscription and suits rural land. But it is the older model: Nova adds accuracy, battery and tree-cover gains for $100 more.
At $379.99 plus a plan, PetSafe's Guardian GPS 2.0 undercuts Halo on price and promises a small collar and long battery. Independent tests under trees and conflicting spec sheets keep it from an easy recommendation.
