One list, sorted by our overall score out of 10. Scores weigh daily reliability, the app, running costs and how the animals took to the device; the review explains each one.
The SureFlap reads your pet's existing microchip, so no collar tag is needed. We look at how well that keeps strays out, where owners report lockouts, and what the Hub and batteries add to the cost.
A motorised, tag-activated pet door with dual steel deadbolts that retrofits over an existing flap. We weigh the $699 price, the tag dependence and the missing battery.
High Tech Pet's PX-1 Wi-Fi patio door lifts a locking panel for a collared pet and costs $874.99. It is a Medium door for pets up to 25 lbs, so big dogs need the PX-2, and the wall version is $295 cheaper.
Sure Petcare's app-connected cat flap adds remote locking, curfews and in/out logs to a microchip flap, for about $200 plus a Hub sold separately. We look at who gets real value from that and who does not.
The SmartDoor Connected adds per-pet schedules, a four-mode lock and phone alerts to a collar-key pet door. It costs $349.99 for the medium, runs on D or C batteries, and wants 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
